Sunday (5/8/2018) at 18.46 WIB, a 7.0 magnitude earthquake struck the Lombok region, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) again. This earthquake was bigger than the earthquake that occurred on Sunday (07/29/2018) at 05.57 WIB which was 6.4 SR. BMKG briefly issued a Tsunami Early Warning (Waspada) which ended at 20.00 WIB. There were 132 aftershocks recorded until 08.00 WIB (6/8/2018).

Based on BNPB data, the total number of victims died as many as 82 people (06/08/2018 at 02:30 WIB) and hundreds of people were injured. Many people have broken bones because of collapsed buildings. Most experience head and foot injuries. 

Infrastructure Damage

Severe damage occurred in the cities of Mataram, North Lombok and East Lombok. Thousands of houses were damaged, schools and mosques also collapsed. Road access is very difficult and 3 bridges are cut off. 

Evacuation by ACT Team 


The Emergency Response Team Aksi Cepat Tanggap continued to sweep and collect data after the earthquake. Also continue to help evacuate earthquake victims and provide health services for earthquake victims.
